Before you can become a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in Ontario, you must successfully complete the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination (CPNRE). This national examination measures the competencies required of nurses at the beginning of their nursing career in Ontario


The National Council Licensure Examination – Registered Nurses (NCLEXRN) is an entry-to-practice examination for those applying to become a Registered Nurse. It tests the competencies nurses need at the beginning of their careers.

The Pharmacy Technician Qualifying Examination is used to assess a candidate’s competence (knowledge, skills and abilities) to practice safely and effectively in an “entry level” pharmacy technician position. This evaluation is based on the practice competencies defined in NAPRA’s Professional Competencies for Canadian Pharmacy Technicians at Entry to Practice.
